Substance Abuse Assessment

Jean McCracken, Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor

Jean helps individuals assess their relationship with substances and utilizes such tools as the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI), Michigan Alcohol Screening Test (MAST) and Drug Abuse Screening Test (DAST).  Results help clients determine how substances are negatively impacting their life.  The client can then help develop a treatment plan to best suit their needs.

There is no one treatment for substance abuse.  A treatment plan may include a full medical evaluation; psychological evaluation; need for medication; individual and/or family counseling; attending 12 step or other support groups; or cognitive education to discover where the desire to use stems and what coping skills are needed to rewire the brain.

There is no line in the sand in which you cross to become an addict.  Substance abuse is a progression from social use to abuse to dependency.  Each phase comes with consequences
